Professor Adrian Tanase, the founder of dialysis service in Moldova: “In 2017, we celebrate 55 years since the first hemodialysis session”.

“In 2o17, we celebrate 55 years since the first hemodialysis session was carried out in the Republic of Moldova (1962) and 35 years since the first kidney transplant (1982) was performed”, stated professor Adrian Tanase, President of the Urologic Society of the Republic of Moldova.

For more than half a century the dialysis service of Moldova registered a dynamic development and since that time appeared the necessity to undertake reforms directed to the needs of patients whose life depends on dialysis, the public private partnership project for the development of dialysis service started to be implemented. One year after opening of the first Center of Excellence, launched within this partnership, the results of this kind of cooperation demonstrated a significant improvement of the quality of life of people with kidney disease in the terminal stage and even more important is the fact that there are no patients remaining outside the medical service of renal function substitution because of lack of places for dialysis.

Further development of dialysis service in Republic of Moldova was discussed at the scientific conference held on June 9, 2017, where over 140 urologists and nephrologists participated.

Besides the history of dialysis service development in the RM, presented by Professor A. Tănase, the participants of the Conference were informed about the importance of “BB-Dializă” centers opening.

“The activity of “BB-Dializă” Center is focused on increasing the accessibility to quality medical services and improvement of the quality of life of patients included in dialysis. In this context, I would like to mention that Chisinau Dialysis Center is equipped with 64 renal function substitution devices, which currently perform over 800 hemodialysis sessions weekly. Clear increase of this service accessibility was demonstrated by inclusion in dialysis of around 180 new patients, which represent triple enrollment rate as compared with the previous one. Both laboratory researches and regular surveys of patients denote a significant improvement of the quality of services, particularly in the treatment of anemic syndrome, reduction of uremic intoxication and phosphor – calcium metabolic disorders”, stated at the conference Mr. Petru Cepoida, medical director of “BB – Dializă”.

To provide services at the highest level, the “BB-Dializă” applies, in centers they manage, a perfect mechanism to ensure maximum comfort to the patients. The company selects as partners to provide medical equipment and pharmaceutical products corporations with international reputation.

“Being based in Basel, Switzerland, the Roche company is one of the world leaders of pharmaceutical industry and diagnostics, based on research. For 20 years Roche is the world leader in the treatment of nephrogene anemia, transplantology, and virology. “Recormon” is obtained through gene engineering, it is identical with human erytropoietin and is administered for the treatment of anemia and retaining of hemoglobin in the blood. Roche defines its mission as follows: to create and produce high quality innovative solutions to unsolved medical problems,” stressed Ms. Gabriela Tomic, Roche, Key Account Manager.

Thus, in the history of dialysis service development in the RM, “BB-Dializă” strives to represent a new page where to record the results exceeding the expectations.
