“Proper nutrition = more time with loved ones”

Dietary intervention is one of the basic components of successful hemodialysis. From the moment the patient knows that he or she suffers from kidney disease, he must fully review his diet and take a strict management of the body weight.

From the beginning, it will be a bit difficult to calculate the amount of protein, lipids, carbohydrates, potassium, phosphorus, sodium and calories in each product you consume, but you will gradually get used to it and, moreover, at a certain moment will become a true nutritionist.

Now your life depends on what and how much you eat.

Let’s take it in turns. We will categorize the elements in two groups:

  • The “friendly” elements for patients on dialysis: proteins, hydrocarbons (carbohydrates) and lipids (fats)
  • The “enemy” elements for patients on dialysis: potassium (potassium), sodium, phosphorus

Th Enemy number one for Patient with kidney disease  is SALT!

Be specially careful! A food product contains all the elements: both friendly and , unfriendly, it is important to combine products according to the quantity of elements.

The overall weight of the elements in the products you consume per day should not exceed the limit allowed for patients with kidney disease.

Below, you will find the daily amount for each element and examples of foods that can fit in the diet of dialysis dependent persons.
