Certainly, the icon made by George will bring you luck!
We will demonstrate that we, mothers and future mothers, are a power and we can get together for noble purposes.
If you still don’t know George, I have the great honor to introduce him.
How old do you think he is? Nine or ten? No! He is a 20 years old young man, who as a child was diagnosed with a cruel disease, rarely observed with children: renal insufficiency in terminal stage. His kidneys no longer work and to live he must come three times per week to Chisinau Dialysis Centre, where, he is connected to a blood filtering device during four hours, otherwise he dies.
The disease has deprived him of childhood and he spent most of the time in hospitals, this also stopped his growth and now he has a face and soul of a child.
However, he doesn’t cry for mercy! He is a true fighter and with small fingers and great belief that he cherish, he sews icons.
With small money that he earns he tries to help his family, which is totally dedicated to him. His mother, who took care of him in dialysis for 10 years, was forced to go abroad to earn money for the purchase of a new house for the sake of George, to be closer to the auto-station in Bravicea village, from where, three times a week, they take the bus to go to Chisinau. His brother, to accompany George to the Dialysis Center, had to abandon the faculty.
Many shattered dreams but if we get together they may become reality.
George was the hero of a campaign!
Afterwards, we managed to collect half of the necessary sum. Still, 25 thousand lei remained. George doesn’t want to beg them from the people, he wants to earn them honestly, offering his works to people.
To help this lovely young guy, we plan to organize, on 7 April, on the World Health Day, an auction of works made by George, 7 in number, sown with great dedication.
The auction will take place in the Dialysis Center, so you can see what this tough diagnosis means and communicate with the people, who are real life-fighters.
