The foods that should be excluded from dialyzed patients ration are those with a lot of potassium, phosphorus and sodium: sausages, pickles, preserves, beans, peas, dried grains, mustard, ketchup, olives, cocoa, chocolate, products containing yeast, spicy sauces, seeds, potatoes, some fruits and vegetables, etc.

POTASSIUM (kalium)

The potassium-rich fruits and vegetables that the dialysed patient should avoid:

  • fruits: banana, orange, apricots, nectarines, melon, dried fruits, raisins, dates, mango;
  • vegetables: tomatoes, carrots, spinach, potatoes, beans, peas, lentils, white mushrooms, pumpkin, broccoli;
  • seeds: nuts, peanuts, peanuts, etc.

Potassium (kalium) is an abundant element in fruits and vegetables, in healthy kidneys patients it has many benefits, but for patients with renal disease it is extremely dangerous. In renal failure, urinary potassium elimination is practically absent. The excessive quantity of potassium can be fatal.

PHOSPHORUS

The integrity of the bone system depends on the way you balance your diet by limiting the consumption of products with a high phosphorus content. No one wants fragile bones1 that break easily! But this is unavoidable if you do not renounce sausages, pizza, ice cream, beans, lentils, giblets and other phosphorus-rich products.

Unlike potassium, which is relatively eliminated by dialysis, the phosphorus concentration decreases by only 40-50%. Following a diet and medication is extremely important in reaching the target phosphorus level in the body.

SALT (Sodium Chloride / Sodium)

People who have been on dialysis for many years and have seen a significant improvement in their general condition have mentioned that the secret of success lies in giving up salt and the balanced consumption of sodium-containing products. It is known that sodium regulates the amount of fluid in the body, and the excess of this element raises blood pressure and causes thirst.
